The church is set at the back of the site to maximise the remaining
area for car parking.
Pedestrian approach is via a path along the south boundary of
the site, leading to a small open area by the main entrance. It
is anticipated that this outside space would be generously planted
and hard surfacing would be provided for meeting before entering
or after leaving the Church.
The building is designed to avoid overlooking of neighbouring
properties, yet to provide a good level of natural light. This is
achieved by the use of rooflights and clerestory glazing.
The Church Hall is designed to seat 160 people with a Sanctuary
area (possibly raised slightly from the general area) at the West
end of the hall. A kitchen is positioned at the South East corner
of the Church Hall with serving hatches to the Church Hall and a
Vestibule. The Vestibule gives generous space for meeting before
entering the Church Hall or Junior Church or for other purposes
such as an informal coffee bar.
Junior Church/Sunday School classrooms consist of a single room
(35ft x 20ft) which can be sub-divided into 3 by sliding/folding
acoustic partitions. When sub-divided these rooms would each have
separate entrances from the Vestibule and therefore could be used
independently.
