Holy Trinity Church was built in 1959. As is the case with many
buildings of its period it is soundly constructed but rather utilitarian
and uninspiring in design. The buildings services (heating, lighting,
electrical installation, etc.) are inadequate for present uses.
The present accommodation is not well suited to the current and
proposed uses for the building.
The principle design proposal is to subdivide the existing church
hall to reduce the worship area (the church hall is too large for
the present congregation) and to provide a new informal coffee /
reception area.
An important consideration in the design of the coffee / reception
area is to provide as much natural light as possible. Natural daylight
is therefore provided via a glazed screen to the church hall and
via perimeter glazing to the ceiling. The glass panels present a
good opportunity for providing decoration by glass etching, stained
glass panels or similar.
Other alterations include the provision of meeting rooms, enlarging
and refitting the existing kitchen, upgrading of services and provision
of a car park.
