The project comprised the construction of a new three bedroom
house, constructed on an established garden plot on the outskirts
of Norwich. The owners are a retired professional couple who required
flexible accommodation arrangements to suit their changing needs.
The plot originally had outline
planning permission for a single storey residence. However, our clients
particularly wanted a two storey house. Therefore, to meet with the
Planning Authorities approval, the
house had to be designed using 'rooms in the roof' techniques,
with careful consideration given to avoid overlooking adjacent properties.
The house is of traditional brick and block construction, with
radiator heating.
